I gave it a miss today, but good to hear theres still a few bits turning up, Theres areas on Filey where the digging is hard going, either just rock solid or large boulders in the hole, Pi's just take a bit of practice, Then you get used to the signals from Hot rocks or the old Red bricks. Think Mark aka findyourown, is back up there tomorrow, Might have a sweepstake on who digs the most fishing weights!

or will when i get used to interpreting the signals.coming to terms how sensitive it is.had my little drapper spade.whach doesn't bother my viking but everytime i got within 2 to 3 feet near with shovel it bleeped.I got a platic shovel on order,(food trade)going to drill and kill two birds with one stone etc.

A plastic spade wont last a few minutes on beachs like Filey with a PI, Just get a full size spade and drag it behind you, expect to have to dig a lot of 15 inch plus deep holes

THANKS STU.have a drain spade, which use on land etc, but Ive been so used to just digging 6"etc. rl; rl; that little draper did the job.PULLING behind me might just be the answer.cos it sure wont sit in holder, and in case of PI it would be too close coil.
Gave up digging some good signals at 12" today "Will try harder next time. "

I use a Border spade which is slightly narrower than a full size spade and as Stu says drag it behind you as you walk along. You will soon get the hang of moving the search head away from where you are going to dig or get a headache if don't . It also has the advantage of leaving a trail in the sand so you can see where you have been.
