Thanks again RRPG, I am really excited about the site now I am hoping you will give me more info if and when needed. is that with the relics you clean them that way and coins?
also what does RRPG stand for just curious ?
if I upload some pics could you help me identify some finds, the land owner is also very interested.
I know there were medical corps there and a lot of other troops inc foreign troops training.
Thanks :)

RRPG = Relic Retrieval & Preservation Group (WW2) of which I am chairman :)

And yes, please upload photos so we can ID stuff for you.

As for cleaning coins, if they are decent British coins, I usually use the same technique and scrub the hell out of them. The coin collectors on here will be going mad at this point, but I am sure they will advise you of a 'kinder' way. It's never damaged any of the coins I've found :)

Nice RAMC collar tab. Some nice coins as well. Your bullet looks like a 9mm. Did you take any pictures of the cartridges ?

:)

Oh, and your press stud is off a glove. Probably army issue officers glove.

I think that is amazing the history behind it, you have researched who it belonged to and at the same time returned it. I will be looking into your channel, I have watched a lot of them. You and the team do a great job.
thanks for the reply.

The crown is an officers shoulder 'pip'. As it is a crown, it as from a major or above, so quite a find. Can't make out the button I'm afraid.

I have watched a lot of your videos now :)
you guys do a great job, I think it is amazing the history behind some of the stories like the watch.
I have been back to the site today and made some very interesting finds.
At first I was finding brass cartridges and other bits of metal, then a horse shoe which seemed to give me some luck. I then found some more coins, a badge and two swiss made watches.
A bit of buckle?, bit of a lantern, a sutton and son lead bag seal, tent ring and the clamp off jump leads. along with many of used cartridges and live rounds which the owner is disposing of.
Here is a pic :)

You don't need to dispose of the cartridge cases, just the live rounds. Cartridge cases without a bullet in them are perfectly safe and legal to possess! We need to see them !

I have been saving up all the cartridges RRPG I will put some pictures up soon.
do you think I should try and clean them to see the head stamps?
and what do think of the new finds?
Thanks James

Your finds are great and the site shows great promise. As I am sure you will understand, cartridges are more my monty rather than cons!

Clean your cartridges with the tough scourer, especially on the base. The headstamps will tell you what era they are from as they will have the date on them.

I can see that RRPG, you seem to have quite a name for yourself on here, giving a lot of info.
Please could you give me some information on these pictures

I have a selection of cartridges dated from 1941-1943 found at the site. the ones from around the woods date from 1956-2011. I also found a 9mm cartridge, shotgun shell bottoms, air rifle pellet, a bullet and a bullet that has hit something and squished. last of all two cartridges what seem to be unfired.
