Xp Deus Lite advice

Post by Popeye_ali »

Hi all I use a Minelab explorer se but my old dad fancies his chances at this fantastic hobbie also.

His eye sight is hopeless and is completely blind in one eye and patchy in the other. To make matters worse he has terrible back issues.

We have therefore come to the conclusion that there seams to be only one likely detector that he may get to spend a couple of hours or so at a time out with me in the fields

The Xp Deus Lite. Seams pointless to go for the full version with display as he won't be able to see the numbers on the display.
And also due to the weight of the unit not hurting his back.

Are logic is for him to peg signals he feels are of interest then I will go back over to the areas at certain times and dig for him and be his eyes so to speak! Ha
Also I can adjust functions for him if required on the headphones.

Anyone got any further advice or anything worth considering? Will v3 be applicable with just using the head phones?

::g thanks

I own an XP Deus lite and what a great detector it is, so glad I upgraded. The coin I used for my Avatar I found with my Deus lite and was using 12Khz on DEUS fast. Love it, since owning it I haven't dug hardly any iron what so ever.

I think the Deus lite would be suitable for your dad, as you have mentioned about him having a bad back. Well the Deus lite is very light and you could swing it round all day without getting arm or back ache.

You have full control with the wireless backphones, the only thing you cant do with it is enter the advanced settings. There is 4 different frequencies 4,8,12 and 18 kHz, you can adjust the sensitivity, ground balance, Disc, it has 4 Tones which is optional and 9 pre set programmes.

Its a great bit of kit, you cant go wrong with a DEUS lite. Just turn ON and off you go ::g

Thanks.

Can you alter the advanced settings via plugging in to the computer or is this not an option?

No, but if you know someone else who owns the Deus full version, then you can link your backphones to his control box and upload and store some new settings to them.

I haven't done this yet, and don't think I will bother, because the pre set programmes are excellent as they are and you can tweek them a bit to get extra depth etc.

I reckon once you have had a few goes on it, you might want to get one for your self and then have your Minelab as a back up machine. ::g
