Whites Classic 111 - Fine performance on Brid Beach

Post by BAMBAM »

Took the whites Classic 111SL I recently got secondhand for £90. Turns out it is not only very good on land, but the Black Sand toggle switch makes it a very good performer on the beach tried it at the water line, damp and dry sand. Performed smoothly, seemingly unaffected by the mineralisation.

Pulled out the usual crap crudded coins etc... but the road test also bagged a couple of rings... one is a batterred silver (825) 7gms with a small diamond.

Hi Andy hope your well. That is the reason I offloaded the Rutus... good but too noisy and sensitive for foreshore. The Classic glides silently for the most part, can still be misled by large iron, but most detectors are. Gives a good sharp solid tone on the good stuff.

All the best, Brian

Hi Brian, you did well to find anything on that beach at the moment so well done. I have a Whites Surfmaster II that is rumoured to be a dedicated beach machine based on the Classic III but do not know how true that is. It does not have the depth of many machines but you can walk off the dry sand on to the wet with hardly any change.

I still find it useful at the top of the wet area that tends to be trashy and is much more user friendly than the PI in those areas that have high iron infestation. It should prove useful on the Humber foreshore, sometimes less powerful is better in trashy areas.

Hi Ray, hope you are keeping well.

The circuitry does seemed very refined... it is light and well balanced too. The rings came out off the damp sandtowards the top of the beach near the paddlers. I was surprised, but its discrimated all the trash out, apart from buried pop cans that nearly burst my ear drums :D

All the best Brian
