Post by east coast stu »

Last week Myself and Oliver, were chating about finding Garnets eyes only on the Thames foreshore. back in the 70's and 80's. Seems like they are still finding them . As i fell over this pic on a facebook page today.

Yep that's the boys used to find them near Tower bridge in the the old pool of London i was told that they came here in the past as mixed in with sand used as ballast in the old sailing ships and got dumped in the river.

I remember looking for them with Paul Woods & Ian Smith back in the early 80's when we were waiting to get under Billingsgate. Had some great finds eyes only in that area, \including a couple unrecorded 17c trade tokens ::g We had some big holes in one area there that produced nothing but Lead cloth seals

I've never had much luck with Potins, I dug a couple of the small half size in the early 80's from a Essex field, They were far rarer back then. Did yours come from the same spot as Franks, further up river ::g
