Hi Tena, I think you will need to drill more holes and maybe increase the diameter of the hole but looking good! ::g
Best of luck

yup that'll work nicely - I saw the original thread somewhere and thought about making one but haven't been to the beach for ages - did you just use a wood saw to saw through the can or something else?

That`s fair enough ::g
Having a go at making your own scoops / spades and testing them can be half the fun! I have attempted creating a few bits myself over the years::g
Hope it works well for you!
Best of luck

As long as it does the job it makes no odds what it looks like really,you get some enjoyment from making it and its free,the main advantage that plastic scoops have over metal one well i think its rather obvious they are not picked up by the coil.

I bought a few of them from maplins about 6 months back when they had been at £1.99 including postage,i am certain that they must have cost more to produce and the quality is superb.

Well done on your new scoop ::g

Looks good mate. Necessity the mother of invention.

Just a suggestion, after you make sure there is no petrol or vapour left in the can run a blow torch around the edges this will obviously make the edges smoother and it will stress relieve it and reduce the tendency for cracks to develop. Good one mate.
