::g Try hunting on the Basic 1 programme exclusively, flicking down to Basic 2 when in doubt for rusty iron, when you're used to all the tones of basic 1,Basic 2 becomes just a confirmation,my Deus is permanently on Basic 1 and has been for well over a year,I've re-done sites that I first tried with other programmes and out come the goods second time over. There are so many nuances with this machine, that constantly changing programmes just complicates matters; ::g

Hi all i have been using the deus for just over 15 months and had lots of good finds i must say that most have been shallow finds must have found 70 hammys the only one at depth was found last Sunday about 8 inches and gave dig me sig but not that good.I have in the last few trips started to dig iffy sigs with a iron buzz to them and these have been deeper finds but you could walk over these if a new comer to the hobby. The deus is light fast but not that sure it is a deep finding tool there are better out there for that.On a dirty habitation site the deus is hard to beet you can work among the iron crap and pull out hammys and small Roman finds but you must work slow.I use deus fast disc in 0 up to 3.5 on these type of sites and do well not many days i don't come home with silver coins. On the rivers and dry beach i find the deus to be great but i do up the disc on the rivers.Had no luck on pasture with it yet but i don't do a lot on grass will try this summer.

I have had mine a few months my finds rate is poor .. i have been on a number of sites when i had my minelab it was better ,, sure the deus is very light and fast on the small targets but the depth is no better than any other machine i think there is alot said about these machines but just like the minelab when it first came out everyone ran out and bought one thinking it will get them a hoard .. or that one find that will pay off their debts it . my thoughts are that each machine has its merits but no one is best just down to the right site the right ground conditions and most of all LUCK... keep trying with your Deus your finds will increase just my pennys worth ::g

personally i would suggest the goldmaxx program and turn up the iron volume - i have only just bought a deus but having had a goldmaxx for a year i have found the transition easy but i don't have a screen for my deus(its the light version) so i have to use the tones only - i wander if it may help if you put the controller in your pocket and really listen to the tones, this is what i had to do with the goldmaxx and for a good while i dug lots of old iron but your brain does start to learn the tones and you dont have a screen to contradict things. I still dig coke mind ;)

i have had my deus for about a month now, i previously had the x-terra 70 and numerous detectors before that...
i find the deus easy to understand, wireless headphones are awesome and all in all a real pleasure to use.

if theres a target under the coil you cant miss it, it just screams at you but if the item is deeper than say 8 inch's you need to listern for a fainter signal thats not so obvious, more like a whisper with a bit of a crackle(remember whisper not a loud tone) when you think you have a target like this look at the depth gauge(horse shoe) if its a small fragment right at the top of the gauge with no target id, then its a very deep target worth investigating, i recently got a vicky sixpence at around 8 - 9 inch, nearly the depth of my pro pointer which in my book is pretty impressive ::g ::g ::g ::g ::g

knowing that i have a top of the range detector gives me so much confidence, if i aint getting any good finds it's because i aint gone over it ;)
