Beach finds with the 'ADAPT Metal Detecting Club' in Spain

My wife and I have just spent 10 days in Spain,we had joined 'ADAPT metal Detecting Club' prior to going after advice from this forum.

We took our Minelab 705 and XP Adventis 2 with us, in our hand luggage to Stansted and had no problems with security, they just wanted them removed from our luggage to check them over. We also took 2 Garrett pin pointers. The batteries were removed from all items.

We met Rod Toms and a few fellow members at Lo Pagan beach and were made very welcome, we detected for a few hours and then sat on the beach side and had a cup of tea and a chat to the members.

We met up twice more on different beaches before returning home to the UK with a lot more knowledge than we went with.

We found the Minelab quite good on wet sand and was also able to use it in the shallow water OK, the XP was only good on the dry sand.

We found over approx 170 coins and a silver bracelet and a heart charm, both with 925 mark.

The best coin was an 1877 Alphonso X11 10 centimes, which happens to be the oldest coin I have ever found.

We cannot wait until our next visit and would like to thank the ADAPT Club for letting us join.

is this the club that detect around Alicante area ?
i had my honeymoon in march near mazaron which is just down the coast ....but obviously i wasn't allowed to take my etrac then ....but will be going out again later in the year as my sister has a place out there ....and there being no decent carp fishing it only leaves golf and drinking ...so would really love a bit of beach detecting

Yes, it's the club around the Alicante area, from Benidorm in the north to La Manga in the south.

Thanks for your appreciation of our ADAPT metal detecting club Spain.
We enjoyed meeting your family and you and your wifes professional approach and enthusiasm for our hobby.
Our club are really trying to do things properly over here as we want to continue our hobby without any hassle from the authorities, although the circle is closing in, and I can forsee maybe in a decade, a full ban on metal detecting in Spain might be possible.In the meantime, our 56 members are enjoying the outside life in the sunshine.All we need is the tourists to come and lose their bling bling.

Please can i ask which coil you had on the minlab 705?
