Welcome back to the detecting world ::g ::g I would go for a standard coil with the new WS5 head phones and get a larger coil latter when the new 11" comes out any time soon :D

Find the best price on the net for a Deus lite ( themuseum.co.uk ) then contact your dealer of choice for a price match plus ask to upgrade the head phones to WS5 ::g ::g

I almost exclusively now use the large coil due to its better covering of area, but the decision is something, which must be made individually.
Since it's heavier, long tours may become more demanding to muscles and wrist, the larger size makes it more difficult to find the way in certain territories or to detect on a mountain side.
In the beginning it was hard to find the exact location, but this seems to be no longer the case for me.

I agree, I am getting way more finds with the large coil.
Comparison made on Viking site that has been heavily searched.

Large coil does it for me . Its a dream for pasture and rolled fields - covers more ground in half the time. ::g Because of its extra weight it sweeps through wheat stubble very nicely too
Only time I now use smaller coil is for high mineralised ground/maize stubble or very rough fields.

Good luck !
