XP Deus V3.1 Wet Sand Setting
Hi, I've been doing great with the Deus xp on wet sand V2. Now I've updated to V3 its gone completely erratic. It is not stable on wet sand anymore, always noisey . I have tried all the tunings and adjustments, but it is still the same. How can I go back to V2. Please can anyone help!.

Hi there, just run the V3 program again, follow the same procedure you done before where you go to the update setting in the configuration then plug the single USB into your PC and at that point the firmware program will flash up on screen, now just click the drop down menu for V2
I have also used the V2 on the beach which worked fine for me, looks like I will have to take a trip to test out the V3!
Did you use these settings....
1) First select Wet Beach Program 7
2) Next select GB go to beach and make sure its set on Yes
3) Now you will still need to Ground Balance using Manual or pumping, I would use pumping first but if it fails "GB Fail" due high mineralization just use manual.
Finally if all else fails increase the reactivity to 4, this should help a lot but will lose a little depth.
Anyway just a few idea`s which you may of tried already! if not then hopefully something here may help
Best of luck

Hi and thanks for your advice.
Went out to the wet sand again today, and tried out all the possible settings. Wet sand setting V3 is too noisey and erratic. V2 did not have this problem. You might as well run basic 2 as a wet sand mode in V3. Will reinstall V2 as you suggested. Thanks

Hi kingofalli, I will do a few tests at the weekend as like you the V2 was working great at my local beach, many people use the Deus on wet sand so its important this issue gets resolved
Thanks

Hi,
I've tried all the tweaks, bar turning the machine off. Please let me know if you have any luck on wet sand V3.
Regards

this is what i found out last night testing on the wet beach...
i switched on the machine with the coil on the ground and it went crazy the whole night no matter what settings i made afterwards...
i then switched off and switched on again with the coil pointing to the sky... then it worked... it quieten down and i got a few pull tabs from the wet beach at the same spots that i had tried for the entire night (including a planted target)
i understand that pulling up pull tabs are good indications that the settings are good to go... *please correct me if i am wrong.

Why cant you put the settings from V2 into your V3 setup as a custom program and have the best of both?

Regardless of any situation you should always switch the Deus on away from the ground and any metal objects especially salty sand.i switched on the machine with the coil on the ground and it went crazy the whole night no matter what settings i made afterwards...
I think many must make this mistake ?
Cheers all

Yeah it's a shame most people don't read the manual as it says all the things people usually do wrong with the machine in it, including not switching it on anywhere near the ground for the first 20 flashes during coil initialisation.
When V3 was released I went down to some beaches in Devon that I usually do when I get the chance and was mostly doing the wet sand. It was chattery at first and required fiddling with but the silencer/sensitivity/wet beach 'ground balancing', etc, options soon put paid to that. While every beach is different there will be a combination of settings to reduce the chatter. I was pulling out the usual coins about the same depth as I did with V2 anywhere from 1-13inches, depending on size and conductivity as usual. Old pennies are usually good signals at depth. Unfortunately not enough people use these beaches for swimming due to the dangerous rocks or I'd be the gold king by now.
Anyway best advice is to read the manual and take in what the modes actually do. Unless your coil is faulty, or you're getting interference from some electrical, or other source, it's easily possible to silence a deus and just have it beep on the good targets if that's how you prefer it, without all the chatter. Are you turning the silencer the right way?
Every beach is different, and I find I need to use a different setup once I get down past certain points on the beaches I do. Don't give up, it's worth it.

thanks for the tips
i am definitely not going to give up. i have a lot of virgin beaches here waiting to be hunted down... hahaha... just that i needed to ensure that my settings are right.
without the prior experience of other detectors and the deus being my first ever detector, my learning curve is v steep... and will require me to understand a lot of the basic stuff through more reading...
so glad that someone shared the following link: http://metaldetectingworld.com/xp_deus_ ... ined.shtml" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
it was a v good site with all the right type of information that i really need to understand...

I've been on a few beaches now with different types of 'black' sand. Both places required quite different settings, however the silencer was maxed. The V3 update has changed the way it works slightly now though, so there's more learning to do for everyone again.targets wrote:could guys differentiate between clean sand and black sand for settings
I can't emphasise this enough, if you want to dabble in the more 'advanced' features of the deus you really need to read, and re-read the manual, and understand what each setting will actually do, or you will in all likelihood end up not getting the most out of the machine, and on the wet sand it can mean all the difference, as the deus is a capable machine, but not the best machine for this job.
If you live next to the beach it will be different than if you only go occasionally, as you can pop out and test settings to your hearts content. If you live further away you will need to adjust settings on-the-fly, and therefore knowing what everything should do before you're there is crucial to the learning process.
Good luck. Practise makes perfect, or so they say.
