XP Deus - Stem

Post by liamnolan »

This topic deals only with the Deus stem. I have been very impressed with the way the sections collapse into such a short length, the cam locking system seems to be smooth and effortless. I am not a tall person, but still need to extend the stem to just about half an inch left spare, so a tall person with longer arms and bigger swing arc might feel that the stem length could be longer? My recent three days of stubble bashing put some pressure on the stem and at one stage the stem became wobbly and almost fell off, so maybe the cam locking needs to be a bit more robust?
Some users have reported problems with the bolt that attaches to the coil, but mine has been ok so far ;) Liam B-)

Well, I'm a shot ar*e liam, a mere 5' 7", and I don't have my stem further than No3.... as for the bolt, if its tightened up too tight the nut will slip on the threads, to overcome this i fitted another nylon washer on the stem and there's no need to overtighten, and the coil stays put......... :)

stem and coil must be raised off the floor when turning on this enables the detector to set itself correctly

also make sure when turning on the stem is extended and not left in its travelling position

I 5ft 11 and have it on the max at 5 but it does feel this is pushing it to the extreme as there doesnt feel enough left up the other section! I won't have it out on 5 when stubble bashing as it feels weak when out at full extent

I agree - I'm 6' tall and at the edge too.
They need to either make the coil rod about 4" longer or sell an extension piece that fits between the 2 rods. Or someone should make an after market unit for it.

Longer shaft is now available to the DEUS.. Upper shaft 12 cm longer ::g .. cost around 37 £ with the camlock. If you choose to move camlock over DIY, then shaft is 26 £..
I will try if I can find a link..
I normally go and search in 4.5 out of 5.. So nice to have longe..

After about three years of use, the top shaft camlock is beginning to slip. Probably worn cam due to abrasion from soil, anyone else having that problem? I did a quick search for a replacement cam assembly and found this, unfortunately in the US

Is this available in the UK anywhere?Priced at $21, seems reasonable if the P&P is not too high on top, Liam

Hi Maximus, I'd just like to point out that is PC World in the US not the one in the UK in case you were thinking of poping down to your local computer store. It would be useful if they did stock deus spares though.
