beach found jewellery

Post by jondav »

Could somebody please clear up, once and for all, wheather it is legal or not to sell silver and gold jewellery found on a beach, this seems to be a very "gray " area, when it comes to complying with the law.I would like to know how many of you out there, either hand the things in, or just keepthem. I have quite a bit of scrap silver at the moment, rings etc probably been there years, but I am hesitating wheather to take them to a jewellers,in case this is not legal. thoughts please.

Finders keepers, unless you know of someone that's lost something inparticular and you find it, then it's only good sport to return it to them or report it to the authorities for the Good name of our Hobby. ::g

If you feel strongly about the dos and donts, then hand it in to your local police station, and if its not claimed after 3 months then its legally yours to do with as you please, hope this helps, just beware silver prices are dreadful, better off trying to sell privately.
