Nailman has a point, the laser scout looks a promising bet against the 4pi. Discrim with automatic mineral rejection, tap it into google, there's a guy using one on you tube. Looks really good. Maybe ya won't be digging deep holes every foot and lifting the same targets.......iron... may even find a ring or two..

Both are excellent machines but if the 'digging iron' is a concern then the Laser is the obvious choice of the two. Remember that the S/H market is a great place to go if you want to assess the suitability and operation of any machine without dipping into your 'National Reserve'.

It's worth just mentioning that the Tesoro Silver Sabre excels on the dry beach, has sufficient discrimination against iron with the (Disc setting at zero)! and they sell cheap due to their age for about the price of a 'pin-pointer'. Laser machines came about because of the reliability and proven track record of the Silver Sabre. They can still find those hammy's too!

Good luck whatever choice is made. Cheers ::g ::g
