100 does sound a lot mate.

Not sure where you are so can't give any specific location advice but you are probably looking for somewhere similar to LLandudno in North Wales where there is a lot of night fishing done- more drops at night.

Failing that the best area will be somewhere that is rocky/snaggy that is covered at high water and heavily fished but not too close to the low water mark so you get a good couple of hours on it. Shouldn't have thought it would be easy to detect on that kind of ground but that's where the weights will be.

PS Be careful. Dropped weights will often have a large barbed hook attached closeby. Some sea fisherman make bad metal detectorists look tidy and protective of the environment >:P

Did 60 weights in a 2hr session tonite ... and works out about 8kgs I think ... average weight being around 5oz ... and the beach is full of snags ... and has been voted the worst tectorist beach in the UK, though i am gonna make it pay for this reputation ... i am now thinking that 140 plus weights in a 4 hts session is achievable, the downside being heaving them off the beach,, I cuurently have 400 weights and trying to get the number of to 1000 before the end of Sept ... that will work out at over 100kgs!!!
and as for being a bad metal dectorist the beach is full of scrap... you are welcome to try for gold rings ... but be warned you will end up a crying wreck!!!

Dungeness in Kent, after a big blow the beach can be littered with them as it is a winter fishing Mecca and a tackle grave yard! I know cos I have lost more tackle there than I care to remember!some days I have filled a bucket without a detector.

just got back after a few hours on the beach, extra low tide today.
Managed to search part of the beach that is only searchable a few times a year
(unless you want to detect under water.) Found 45 coins quite a few of which were old and a 9 ct gold wedding ring. I also dug loads of fishing weights - after i had dug 27 of them i decided to head for home as my finds pouch was full and was starting to pull my trousers down. Im sure there are loads left and may head back there tomorow for the last extra low tide for a while.

Pennington sea wall is a very rocky beach at low tide and has been very popular for fishing for as long as I can remember, the rocks tend to snag the lines and its heavily populated with fishing weights.
I metal detected there once and had loads of weights but the window between the tides has to be carefully worked out to give you maximum detecting time ::g

You would be better off selling the weights at a boot sale or a local fishing spot . . .. .scrap lead isn't that good ::g

Or melt them down and mould your own, then sell them to local tackle shop ::g Moulds cost £15-£20 odd, but after that, the weights will cost you literally pennies to make and you should be able to sell 'em to shop for 50-80p each depending on what size they are, in the long run you might make a decent sum of money! :D ::g ::g ::g

Once whilst detecting near the Humber Bridge I found loads. As a fisherman these finds are much appreciated. Anyone find any and want to dispose of them you can usually find me in the "Royal Oak" in Paull, East riding. ::g

I'll remember that one Fubar!!! went down to Paull a couple of months ago after a random tip off by a bloke jogging under the Humber bridge... turned out the the miniscule beach was a boat junk yard and the rest was waist deep in mud.... did i go wrong somewhere???
