Just took the plunge

Post by onepennyjon »

Well after some thinking I have given up detecting with the explorer xs not because of the machine though as it has been a brilliant piece of kit.I just wanted something a little more up to date and a bit
more responsive not only that I have noticed the weather tends to be more on the wet side of things,Arghh caught out in the rain again yesterday evening :E
The big day comes tomorrow as my ctx turns up. ::g ::g ::g so it looks like another learning curve.
Cant wait to have a play on a few bits of freshly cut pasture and get to grips with it,and not bothered with the weather.
just thought I would post this on here so the people of the forum dont think I have given up as many people do go into this hobby then just vanish.
I am loving this detecting lark and cant get enough of it .its all positive stuff
Anyway if anyones got any tips for the ctx that would be appreciated very much thanks again for all your help on this great forum ;) ;)

I have had ctx for a few months and I still playing around with all the functions it has to offer. You won't be disappointed with your new purchase. My finds rate has risen although since I have moved down south it has dropped ( due to having not being able to obtain permission ). A lovely and very hi tech pice of kit worth the money.

Congrats on your new toy. I'm sure you'll take to it quite quick and the biggest difference you'll find is the weight and balance compared to the explorer. According to others it comes with a free 6 inch coil and pointer now. The 6 inch is a beast amongst the iron, Winkling out the smallest of targets by making the signal signature's smaller and separating the two so you can hear the good signals.
Good luck and look forward to seeing your future finds.
One other thing, like the explorer, stay low and slow to give the machine time to read the ground.

Ordering my new ctx3030 tomorrow fromJA,supposed to be a deal for a free coil.
going to confirm in the morning first.
Already own a Whites V3i,and looking forward to another high end detector.
Here in the valleys where i am ,haven't found anything of value yet ,but hoping to get something perhaps with the deep seeker.
Have read about the brill reports of the ctx on this site and looking forward to going on my first dig. :-SS ::g
