GARRETT PRO POINTER BLACK ADA RIPER BLACK ADA INVADER MINE LAB DIGGING TOOL With all the Celtic, Roman and Medieval activity less than half a mile from the beach at climping anything is possible. My son and I had a hoard of Denarii at the first climping rally must be 15 years ago now but that hoard was situated within that 800 yds from the beach, A similar distance inland on that very same day on the same rally a hoard of gold staters was dug around 400 yds further along the same field as ours. Unfortunately nobody got to hear about that one until 2 weeks after the rally for reasons only known by the finders.
Talking to the farmer once he told us that there used to be a Roman harbour on one of his fields. Also the name of the Climping rallies was billed as the Lost villages rally on account of there being two or three medieval villages that were lost to the sea many years ago so clearly that coastline has changed considerably over the years. Never give up on an area, read the local history books your clearly bypassing a very good area, who knows whats buried on that beach. I detected it once along the beach and all I got was some aircraft machine gun bullets from the second world war, possibly ours or German who knows.
That's some cracking info Tony ,I was told that when the tide goes out really far at Littlehampton there is a chance of Roman coin's so that sort of tyes up deff worth a try then Dav we'll have to arrange a visit

X-TERRA 705 This is my weapon of mass detection 7.5 and 18.75 kHz coils Pro Pointer dropped the missis and kids at Littlehampton this morning, xmas shopping.so I popped down to climping beach for an hour or 3.turned out to be 4 hours and only got 47p and 2 .303 cases and some scrap metal.tide was on its way out, tryed the wet stuff but my euro didn't like it..even after lowering the sens etc.
I did get some locals having a moan to me about metal detecting in front of the café part of the beach.it turns out that someone has been detecting on the grass bit,im sure you need permission for that bit of land...and left it in a right mess. so on my way back I had a look at the grass infront of the café and it was like a bomb site.holes all over the place, some filled, most not filled etc. ![]() so I spent the last half hour trying to tidy it up a bit,as I was getting phones calls every 5mins from the missis,so I had to go. pissed me off that I had to do this tho ![]() im sure you not aloud to detect there, and you could off at least filled your bloody holes!! ![]() XP DEUS
