Hi Oldfart, the terminals are made of gold and should not corrode but maybe could get dirty or have a film of muck that could be just wiped over with alcohol , I have never had any problems this end. Never use emery paper / wire wool as it very likely to damage these connections.
Most issues appear to come from the connection clip on the charger end where the pins get bent.
Its important to make sure you make the connection between the coil and the connection clip very carefully, its a simple process but these pins are small and can easily be damaged. Clip onto the coil very carefully and squarely but do not wiggle!

I have two chargign clips becasue i though one was faulty, it wasnt, i just seem to have an issue gettign the pins to locate acurately onto the teminals, you would think this couldnt be an issue as the small portion of the locator and the larger portion of the locator only fit snuggly one way on to the coil. sometime i have to take on and off 15 times before i get the correct charge light to come one. I am aware that sometimes the charge light takes a while before it actually comes on but this is not the issue.
Also at the weekend my control box switched its self off, it was after about 4 hours use wihtout touching any buttons, but i was getting plenty of signals, so wouldnt have expected it to go into standby to be honest.
Think it was normal but will monitor.
Thanks

Wire wool? Emery cloth? It's not an old spade, it's a gold-plated contact. Use nothing more abrasive than plain white paper, eg. newspaper, to remove any film of debris. The gold plating is fairly thin, it's possible that the pressure on the pointed probe could wear it through eventually. Of course wiggling the connector excessively will just make this worse...
And I'm 100% certain the two contacts are not 'live', as in connected to the battery directly, so don't bother about the risk of shorting them out.
It really does make me wonder how many people have used something abrasive to clean the contacts and just not realised the contacts are gold plated, especially if they have muck on them, easily done I guess. Something that really needs to be emphasized.
Cheers all
