Deus wet beach

Post by robr »

Hi

I have a GMP V4 with Deus shaft......which I love.

I need help and advise, I either keep the GMP for inland and dry beach and buy a new Sovereign GT for the wet sand, or by a Deus and sell the GMP.....question is will the Deus be OK on the low water mark?

Any advise would be great....... ::g

Ummm the coil of the deus is 100% waterproof. Perhaps what was meant above is that covering the coil with water will cause it to not communicate wirelessly with control units as the signal cannot penetrate the water without an aerial up the stem, which you can either DIY or buy a pack for.

The deus works perfectly fine on the wet, but you obviously wont get the depth you would from other machines. If you want a great all round detector get a Deus. If you just want a dedicated one for wet beach areas go for something else.

A few of us get along fine with the Deus on wet sand just using basic settings but some do not.
I think it all depends on what type of sand your beach has ? a few have had trouble using the Deus over black sand.
You may also need to tweak the settings to your requirements ::g

Best of luck

Works fine on black sand, but for every beach you go on you will need to set your machine up correctly, which requires an understanding of the so called 'expert' settings on the machine.

A benefit of a deus on the wet is the fact you have some level of discrimination, whereas lots of water or wet beach recommended machines are the 'dig every target' type. I'm sure others will recommend some other suitable machines though, hopefully you will get something that suits your needs. ::g

Thanks ALL..... ::g

As my main detecting is inland, and a few times on the beach, also after Glens post also other advise, looks like I will be contacting Nigel at Regtons.

I can't see how the Deus could be much better than the GMP, but I do understand it will be more versatile........ :D

Hi hiho ;)) I got my coil wet on the beach not once but twice :-O :-O and it malfunctioned as a detector and I had to send the coil back to Regton :-O ;;z

I will keep watching this with keen interest, it would be really handy to know if it is OK to get wet or not !

Yours is therefore obviously faulty.

Quote from XP deus site:
9" Carbon fibre impregnated 2D coil, both light and waterproof including coil cover
I'm struggling to think of ANY coil that isn't waterproof when new to be honest. Would be pretty stupid to sell a coil that wouldn't work in the wet. =))

The deus coil is submersible to 100 metres but you have to leave the headphones on the beach x;
