setting for a x-terra 705 with a tornado coil

Post by oldpenny »

Hello everybody. I am new to the site and indeed detecting so please excuse any what you may precieve as silly questions . As the title of this post i have an x-terra 705 and a nel tornado 7.5kh coil
Can anybody advise me if this is a good coil for a sandy and stony beach? also what would be the best setting please.

Hi there,

I had an Xterra 305 with the 7.5Khz Minelab DD coil and had some good results on the beach. I did look at the NEL coils as the minelab wasn't waterproof just in case of getting caught by a rogue wave. The key was to getting the ground balance right on the 305, try doing some tests with various coins in the dry and wet sand to see what responses you get, also I believe that the 705 actually has a beach mode so should make wet sand a lot easier.
Hope this helps and good luck.
