New detector new finds
Got my Garrett Sea Hunter MKII this Wednesday and had an outing today at the beach where I have been with my ACE 250.
All finds come from where I've already been with the ACE, had no more signals last Sunday and obviously I had missed a few targets. (Not all finds in the photo) The spot is about 30x60 feet and got about half of it detected with the Sea Hunter today...
When I got home I decided to make a prototype sand scoop for tomorrows outing in the water with neoprene waders. Hopefully it'll work as intended.

The scoop for the 1st effort looks ok but gut feeling tells me the handle to the scoop does not look strong enough as most have a brace or something like one that gives it additional strength.
I use the Garrett SeaHunter Mono coils 8'' and the 14x10'' on my Crossbow Pulse, build quality is very good and sturdy

I do like the look of the scoop, nice welding job, but how heavy is it!! Detecting is more about a walk-out than a work-out!! Am looking forward to your field test report

Imagine there is no heaven, only sky above us.
No welding involved as the main scoop is 110mm plastic drain pipe that I had lying around, the back is aluminium (or aluminum for the Americans) that I salvaged from a camping stove that i fastened with screws. I got the stem from an old rake...I'll see if I can make some more braces to it.
I have got stainless steel sheets at work that I've been thinking of making a scoop out of, but the hole drilling has put me off a bit, welding should be no problem though.
/pischla
Edit: Oh, and the weight is 670grams.

And there was me thinking you had made the scoop from a scaffolding pole and coal bucket!
Still looking forward to the results of the field (or is it beach) test..

The scoop worked, but, and there's always a but, it is too narrow! Very hard to get the object in the scoop, at least with zero visibility under water where you can't see the coil.
Think I will try to build something that is about 150-200mm wide at the bottom to be able to cover more area.

Looking good.pischla wrote:So here's the embryo of my new scoop:
what you using to weld it, mig or tig?
I mig welded it. Would love to have a tig instead though.
I'm also in the process of building a spot welder out of a microwave transformer, that I thought I'd use on the next one if needed.
