Tomo I see you have started using the Excalibur, how are you finding it? I am thinking of upgrading my Sov GT.. I am either going to go for the Excali or bite the bullet and get the CTX3030.. Do you miss the CTX 3030 on the beach?

The Excalibur is a nice machine but I find it struggles around iron infested areas. It goes deep but is better suited to cleanish areas of beach with the odd bits of iron about I find, unless you work in pinpoint then you get the actual size of the target and you dig everything, bugger that. The recovery is pants, sometimes waiting a while to get the threshold back so cleanish beaches suit it more I think. Plus points are you get a good clean signal on really deep targets. Hip mounting the control box makes it alot lighter than the ctx.

The ctx I found could winkle the smallest targets out from most iron infested areas having an excellent recovery speed. It goes deep and can be used on land or beach so really it all depends on your beach and how trashy is it I think.

Thanks Tommo.. Yes most of the places I search, as I get more expereienced tend to be trashy. On the SOV GT I have found I am using the 15 x12 Sef less and the stock coil more was considering getting a 6" coil for the trash. I took the Sorex Pro and Sov GT to the beach yesterday, the Sorex was much better than the Sov GT in the iron but I had to run it with everything turned down so depth wasn't a patch on the GT. Guess I am going to have to go for the CTX...
