Is it best to wait till summer?
Bear in mind its my 1st year of detecting so ...... Had a good 8 months or so on the beach find wise....modern coinage, few victoria %george pre decimals , 1 gold ,2 silver watches and other bits. These last 2-3 weeks have been pretty abysmal ,about 11 pence in total and a penknife.Of course the holidaymakers have long since left,so its logical to presume very little,if indeed anything is left to unearth. Do most of you beach searchers give it a rest for the winter months or continue regardless? Or just wait for a big storm and go digging soon afterwards?

Seriously though, I tend to do more beaches in winter, like ya say, good storms bring up the good stuff

Winter is better imho... Just takes a little more work and a better understanding of your beach
There is a great post on how to read a beach here: http://www.metaldetectingforum.co.uk/vi ... 12&t=56834

I agree, there is still plenty there, just a little harder work to find it. With the added bonus that a good storm can bring big rewards if you are lucky. Just loving our beaches now winter is here !!Norfolk_Craig wrote:Winter is better imho... Just takes a little more work and a better understanding of your beach
