Woolacombe Beach North Devon.

Post by Denis s »

As a newbie I was reading old posts to gain knowledge.
In so doing I came across some mixed information regarding the local beaches
Woolacombe beach is owned by Parkin Estates ( Parkin.estates@virgin.net)
I spoke to a very pleasant young lady who informed me that they did not mind metal detectors on the beach so long as they obeyed the rules and did not annoy other beach users
She thanked me for my courtesy in asking permission,as she said most people did not
With regard to Saunton Sands they are owned Christies Estates I have no further information on them as I do not detect there as they charge £4.50 for their car park.
I willbe in contact with them and will update you when I have more info.
Ps got a garrett pro in the post today from the museum web site £100.oo off the price and a fast delivery ::g

Well done for trying to get permission. ::g I don't know about Woolacombe but most of these 'estate' run beaches seem to be owned by the Duchy and they are just rented from them on long leases. The places owned by the Evan's Estate for example are all meant to be a no-go for detectorists, as they have a lot of SSSI areas on the land. They have put up the village they owned for sale though, no idea if this includes the beach lease or how that works. Good luck, lots of nice beaches around Devon. =P~
