GC1010 metal detector spares ?

I bought my son a GC-1010 detector from maplin a good few years ago now, I have found it in shed and still works other than the coil is missing, anyones guess why thats not on it but searched everywhere without any luck, so need another coil but maplins said they are all imported from china and he dont know where the spares come from or rather he did'nt want to look :-/ any idea's anyone as when it was working ok my son found quite a few coins with it ? if not i'll bin it =))

Tempted to agree with the bin it idea but my mate used one of these for a while before he got a 3mx and im sure he still has the cursed machine.I will ask him tomorrow if it still lives and if so i would take pleasure in decapitating the damned thing for you if he agrees.

cheers mate, I was just thinking it will give my son something to use for the time being I know they are not great but thought coil might be cheaper than new machine :-/

Cheers Old Jeffers, I thought this but was just wondering if they had a spares centre somewhere as it may of been cheaper than buying my son a new one with tight purse strings at mo and all that, I will just keep for now its always welcomed from my brother who is into electrical circuitry and loves to fiddle as do I, only difference is he understands it all, I dont =)) =))

hi,
my son as the previous version to this,buttons instead of touchpad,and in perfect working order,coils are exactly the same,he doesnt use it anymore,even though he had some good finds with it,if your still after 1, let me know and i'll ask him,also they still sell these on ebay,just under different names,they go for about £50.

If you don't find a spare coil head please do not throw the metal detector out I will take it and pay what you want for it as I can use it for spares thanks
