Hi Scratcher, its Bovisand beach ::g .

Yea Pepperpot, that incident scared me for life, hence staying up the top part of the beach :)) .

Hihosilver....pmsl.....I did as you say, and only with slight pressure, it snapped in half.
How the 'ell did you spot that =)) ::g.
... I've been ripped off by the beach Gods .
I noticed it because in your pic it's showing layers. Real coins with silver content are defintely never made of layers from at least 1750 onwards. There were a few different methods of making them, and the cigarette foil method is one of them from about 1920 onwards. The weird thing about most of them is they will pass the alu foil and spit 'silver' test. Anyway, don't worry, where you find one, you'll find many more. They're worthless anyway in that condition. At least you know now what to look for, you've probably had some before and not noticed. ::g

I've had too many to count off Devon beaches. :( ;;z Cheapskates or inventive genius's down there, you decide. :D

Now you have pointed it out Hihosilver I can see it now, in fact looking at it its shouting out 'I'm a fake'. Been through all my other silvers and they seem all ok.
In regards to Cheapskates or inventive genius's down here, a combination of both I think. I've got this image in my head of some of those dockyard workers down here knocking out fake tanners in their dinner hour.
