An Interesting Session At The Beach...Earlier last week I took my detecting buddy along to the beach after several days of moderate SW winds. On this day the wind while still moderate had swung more to the west with the result that generally more sand had been washed in.There were a few areas where the high tides had cut into the sand as can be seen in one of the pics. and I knew that situations like those always produce coins.I lent Nigel my Fisher 1280X and moved off to another area as Minelabs and Fishers don`t get on very well.Later on I had found around 86 coins all decimals to the value of about £4 while Nigel had found about 40 coins value just short of £4.Turned out his back played up so he turned up the discrim which nulled out the low value coins though he could still find 10p`s and upwards.I was using all metal on the Minelab so it hoovered up any coin around. No rings found but still an interesting and enjoyable time.Curiously we both found one foreign coin, his was Indian while mine came from the Ukraine!!

Nice one mate.
I think the line you can see in the sand near your spade is probably the last storm line.
Nice haul... but why bother digging the 1 and 2p's ... if you stick to the higher denominations you will find more in value and experience less in back-pain!!!
Imagine there is no heaven, only sky above us.
Given by the distinct lack of foot prints on the sand above the line ... i would say the line coincides with the latest tide, rather than the latest storm... unless they were one and the same.. completre guesswork mind! Imagine there is no heaven, only sky above us.
Yes,it`s the tide line.We are having a session of higher than normal tides at the moment.I was down there again today and it has completely changed - the sand you see in the picture has completely gone and the sea seems to be washing in shingle now.Spent 3 hours there and found 36 coins including a badly corroded 1921 farthing in the shingle.
nice pile of coins there, well found
