what is this coin

i found what i belive is a coin but i cannot make out what kind. its the same size as a 5p but it looks more silver, it was about 9 inches deep. just hope its not an eroded 5p. PS. If i find a 5pwith my garrett ace 150 it always says nickle, but this one said coin  sorry can only show one side of coin, my camera is playing up thanks for your help. Luke m. X Terra 705

when I first looked at your pic I was going to point out that it actually does say FIVE PENCE............ and then I saw the bottom coin

Almost looks like the makings of a portcullis on the visible side....but not sure..... Reluctant to say its silver....all the silver i have managed to pull out turns black quite quickly when exposed to the air.....maybe a silver/nickel You could try putting some tin foil in a dish and a spoon of bicarb and hot water....drop the coin onto the tin foil and if it starts to clean and you can smell rotten eggs then its silver....if nothing else this should help show up any writings.......the coin will be undamaged by this process....
