x-terra 305 learning curve

Post by irishwaves »

Hi all
Firstly thank you for all the posts on the form. It is a great source of my info.
When looking for my first MD I settled on the 305 really wishing I had enough cash for 705. I am interested in searching on land not so much the beach But it is a good place to cut your teeth when waiting on permissions. You can learn the detor with minimum digging effort although I am pretty sick of aluminium cans and various bits there off.

My local beaches have a lot of basalt which can give a -4 signal for iron. The -4 signal jumping to high pitch will probably offer something other than iron but in my case rubbish. I tried this on wet sand yesterday at low tide springs and even with the Ground Balance way off it gave me finds at 1 foot. I even dug a cigar tin lid out that was 1 1\2 foot. Honest. I thought it was falsing.
Still wish I had something different for a beach but the next detector will be water proof maybe. Any suggestions? I plan diving/snokling.
