DEEPSTAR THE DADDY OF BEACH DETECTING ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Very nice haul indeed...
Two questions : -How much deeper do you estimate the Deepstar versus an Etrac, for instance, or a GT ? -How do you dig that deep in the wet stuff? Sure my back would hurt when going home... Cheers JimNick
deep star minium of 20inches on a 50p onwet sand i would say its double the etrac

40 ins on a etrac, thats big enough to bury yourself in!!! we would need a building regs permit over here!!! ohh and a coroners certificate!! Imagine there is no heaven, only sky above us.
YES ![]() ![]() thanks, the difference in depth is always difficult to assess, depending on the sand + / - black and salt + / - Important One thing is sure, tensions high PI are deeper, to the beach and by far I hunt that specific areas ideal: a rock bottom / peat / clay at 50 cm or a very hard sand that holds the heavy targets I used to dig a custom gamatte stainless steel 3 mm which excavates deep while stirring less sand, than a shovel but the Etrac is still a very good machine if I did not have Pi my choice would wear on Explrer xs II ![]() You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

yes it is hard to find out where you can go and where you cant, but after a lot of research I managed to get a 10 day permit for all lake garda beaches, on I condition that I register all finds over 100 yrs at the local museum, who will then keep them and decide if they are of any historical value, hasten to say I will do this. Hi again !
I recently bought a Sea Hunter MK II to have a unit that can be used in water. With the 8" coil, I'm getting 13/14" on larger coins. A larger accessory coil exists, that will add 2 to 3 inches depth. Maybe I will get that one, but I find my Sovereign GT to be deeper when used in P/P mode. It's actually deeper (not by much, but deeper) with the standard Tornado coil used in P/P than a friends Etrac with the 11" FBS coil. Of course it does not provide much target data in P/P, but you still get deep goodies. On the other hand, the SH MK II seems to be much more sensitive on small gold targets (BBS/FBS units struggle in that department). So I suppose your detector is kind of a combo of these two worlds. Guess my GT with a 15" WOT would have monster depth too, but I just dunno if I wanna dig that deep ! Me old back hurts ! ![]()
