Interesting badge from Berrow beach

It was a lovely sunny Saturday afternoon down at Berrow but the beach doesn't seem to produce much for me although I'm still getting used to it and the Deus on wet sand. I got home with a bag of rubbish, 14p in modern, a 1948 shilling and a battered old .303 cartridge. When I was going through the rubbish however, this badge turned up, I thought it was a lump of crud til I cleaned the sand off it. If anyone knows Berrow, this came from the black muck that underlies the sand a fair way down the beach.

Here is some info I got off a couple of websites regarding the Fellowship of Freedom and Reform:
Retro Stu, who has a similar badge on Flickr says: The Fellowship of Freedom & Reform (FFR) were a temperance-based movement who campaigned for more responsible trading within licensing premises. Unlike other temperance organisations, the FFR had no religious affiliations nor seeked a ban on the sale of alcohol. Rather, they campaigned to reform and fight against abuses within the licensed trade and for improved family-orientated public houses. The FFR also published their own periodical called Sobriety.

The badge is made from die-stamped brass with three enamels (blue, red & white) and a gilt finish on Stu's good example, traces of enamel remain on my badge but not really visible in the photo. There is a buttonhole clasp (horseshoe shaped stud) on the rear.

Here is some info from Leodis a Leeds website--The FFR was a nationwide movement founded by the breweries and distillers in a response to a new prohibition campaign led by William 'Pussfoot' Johnson between the wars. He traveled from the United States to speak about the evils of drink and the American movement for the prohibition on sale of alcohol. The F.F.R believed in individual freedom. The badge was produced in good numbers and is not uncommon-it is sometimes found with different makers name-some no makers back-stamp. On mine I can make out something like CD 58039.
