How long does your 11" coil last ? (now fixed)

Post by frogeye »

I am very happy with the Deus 11" coil apart from the coil only lasts for just over three and half hours from fully charged ;;z

I gave it a full charge in the morning . Switched it on at home to check the battery level the indicator was a full 3 bars ::g

Took the Deus out in the afternoon , switched it on and it only had 2 full bars ;;z ;;z

Ok it lasted for 3 and half hours but knowing that it will switch off any time soon and flashing empty is a pain .

How long does your coil last for :-/ I will have to get one of those little AA battery holders now :))

Apparently there was another update pushed out a couple of weeks ago which fixed the battery issue for some coils, as some were reporting a low coil battery, even though the coil charge wasn't actually low. A couple of people in our club had the issue and since re-doing the newer 3.2 update the issue has gone. Perhaps it's affecting yours too and you need to redo the newer 'fixed' 3.2 update. Worth a try.

Similar thing happened on my 9" coil. I spoke to Nigel at Regton and was told about the latest update but it meant either posting or taking it over to Birmingham, either option was not a good idea for me.

Then he told me to try running the coil down until the battery was completely 'dead' and then charge it up. This I did and left it on charge overnight. This seems to have cured the problem.

I read on another forum where it takes like 3 full cycles to charging to set the battery memory....

Also could you not just do the update at home on your computer? Why must it be taken to a shop? I thought XP made this for us to do updates at home.....(never done one myself....)?

Now fixed fingers crossed X:) I gave the coil battery a complete drain down in the morning . Just turned it on in the house and went out for a few hours . Then gave it a full charge this afternoon . Turned it back on and it seems to have done the job , all 3 bars are up now.

It could be right about needing up to three cycles to reset the battery as this is the third time I have drained it if you include the last two detecting trips out.

Thanks for all the info and advice everyone ::g ::g ::g

Hope it will help anyone else who gets a similar problem with their coil .
