Hello all,
I am looking for parts for my Land Ranger, specifically the upper part of the button.
Certain buttons do not work.

I'm not 100% sure what you mean, but is it the springy metal part of the button you've "lost", slightly domed, that 'clicks' when pressed? I'm sure I could find something suitable amongst my junk, but the size needs to be correct, they come in lots of sizes. If you can remove one from another switch and measure it up, or post a picture, it would help.
If you want to sort it out yourself, these type buttons are often found on bedside clock-radios, and other cheap electrical items, portable CD players etc, you might be able to get one for 50p at a boot-sale, or you may have such stuff lying around unused in cupboards.

i think that face plate has a membrane and buttons built in, first texas might sell you one, i could probably modify it with tact switches, but the man hours cost may not be worth it, the membranes may be available you need to contact first texas.

If the buttons are complete, but just not working, it may be oxidation (mild corrosion) of the metal surfaces. These can be 'cleaned up' by rubbing them with plain white paper. The paper will go grey as a result. The points to rub are the three (usually) feet the click-button stands on, the under-side of the domed part, and the entire area of the circuit-board track where the button sits.

The important part here is what the individual switches are comprised. I don't remember seeing any metal on metal contacts for years and they all seem to use copper tracks on the side of the membrane that connects to the electronics and conductive rubber pads on the other (usualy upper) membrane. With TV remotes sometimes you find a build up of the conductive rubber on the copper tracked membrane which can be cleaned and the switches will work but very often the conductive rubber part on the other membrane has worn away to such an extent that it can no longer bridge the copper tracks. If this is the case you can get around it by glueing copper foil pads to the worn away area. Not a perfect solution and you may need to disassemble an remove oxidation from time to time but it may get you up and running.
