Tin farthing

Post by deano69 »

Hi all,
Found this Charles II tin farthing on the Thames foreshore near Blackfriars Monday. It was very cruddy when found so I've been gently cleaning it. Such a shame the tin rot has started. The bust is not too bad but not much of Brittania left, but you can see the condition it must have been in when lost from the lettering on the reverse. Oh we'll mustn't grumble ;)
Cheers
Dean

Lovely find mate, well spotted.

It's in great condition, all things considered. If it had gone in the ground rather than the Thames, it would have rotted away completely by now!
