Hi, I was on Mersea when I lived in Colly back in '92 - I remember finding copper nails! Good luck, stay positive and enjoy your day ::g

Hi John
There is a caravan park at the end of Sea View avenue and painted beach huts on the beach. If you carry on along the beach past the park there is a pipe that runs out to sea. It's pretty obvious. Roman gold coins have been found to the left of the pipe out on the sea bed. Only tried it once myself and got filthy, and didn't find much but we all know how things come and go.

Hi Ive done the beach at west mersea a few times, found many bullets in the wet sand but mainly just junk in the dry. I had a quick go at east mersea but after disturbing an adder in the grass and almost getting bitten I called it a day.

I'm hopefully going up there again next week.

East Mersea isn't Crown Estates land, is it Local Council owned?
