Nice day on the beach

Post by Machinist »

I have managed to get a morning on the beach at long last, I can not believe it is over 2 months since I last got out.

I was using my Whites Surfmaster pulse and managed to find a shallow gulley that looked the best place on a not so promising beach. Finds were slow but I managed to winkle out one child's gold ring and a thin silver chain amongst the low value coins and the mountain of junk that went in the bin as I came off the beach.

The Surfmaster sure does like the 1p and 2p coins but it keeps me going and the odd good find makes up for it.

There is a strange section on that beach that is often barren but occasionally throws up the odd early decimal or late pre-decimal coin. Today's anomaly was the large 50p coin in the picture.

I really enjoyed getting on the sand again in such nice weather.

Hello Ray. Hope you are well. See you are still able to winkle out the gold. Well done.
All the best, Brian

Hi Brian, not getting out as much as I would like due to wife now working most weekends and only having one car but hoping to sort that in a month or so.

Always feels better when the gold comes off a difficult beach and you have to work for it. Nice to see from your previous posts that you have managed to get out on farmland and have a few nice finds. Just 20 months to go until I retire then I will be knocking on farmers doors to get some land to work.

Keep well and I hope you soon find that hoard.

Good selection of finds there ::g and nice bit of yellow makes it well worth the effort.I think the large 50ps were withdrawn around the end of 1997.Been warm and sunny here today,I might take a look on a local beach early tomorrow morning while it is still relatively empty.
