where best place to detect on beaches

where best place to detect on beaches

hi all
ive never detected on a beach and just wondering where best place on beach to detect
I use a garret ace 250 is it best to search dry sand or wet sand and what area of beach do I look for?

With your g 250 i would stick to the dry sand if you want to find the gold rings ect you need to work the mid beach to the low water mark on the wet sand but you will need to get a better beep a sov gt is very good for the price you can pick them up second hand and a good ss scoop.

but what you are saying is that I will not find gold rings etc on dry sand??/

You will find the odd one but you will find lots on the wet sand.

if the beach is a big one, just detect along the low water mark, also stand on the high water mark and look for low spots, gulleys etc, if the beach has a freshwater stream, thats usually lower and the freshwater stops the salt giving false signals, not totally but enough to find things.
when you get into it you will find "sweet spots" on a beach where finds get washed into.
