Interference with/from Deus coils ?

Post by robr »

Hi All,
I am going on the Forum Dig in October, and really looking forward to it. I have been detecting for years but never been on a Rally with a Deus, having only bought it a couple of months ago.

My question is......do you get much interference from other Deus users? or any other brands of detectors, if so I will try to avoid getting too close, I am sure there are plenty of you Deus users that can answer this ::g

Hi Rob, re the Deus I sometimes find I get interference at about 2m away, so if wandering over to someone for a chat then you have to bear that in mind. Below is a Q&A reply I found whilst browsing and which may be useful, Liam ::g :;@

Isn’t there a risk of interference with other devices because of the radio link or detection frequencies? In brief, is it OK to operate the detector close to another DEUS device?

- Concerning the wireless radio link, to eliminate the likelihood of interference between devices, DEUS has 36 different channels available, compared with only two on the WS1!
When you switch DEUS on, communication is automatically established on a random channel selected from these 36 available channels. The risk of two wireless detectors interfering with each other is therefore very low. However, if this does occur, you just need to switch one of the devices off and on again to reinitialise the channel search.

- Concerning interference between two detectors in very close vicinity, associated with the detection frequencies:
You will note that it is also possible to avoid interference between two users because of the multiple frequencies available with DEUS. For example, if your team mate is using the 18 kHz detection frequency, you could either switch from 18 kHz to 12 kHz, or shift your frequency from 18 kHz to 18.1 kHz using the FREQ – EXPERT menu.

I imagine its going to be the first topic of discussion on the Deus Day in September as 30 Deus users will be huddled together in the morning lecture ... Liam =))
