Beach Detector sub £200

Post by PeaBody »

Hi All,

Been lurking for a while reading up!

I am looking for a metal detector for sole beach use under £200.

I have read a lot about the AT Pro but these are out of my price range even on the usual auction site!

The Ace 250 is in budget but I don't think suitable!

I will be using the detector on the dry sand and wet sand when the tide is out.

Any recommendations from the beach goers?

Thanks... P

Check out Staffs Metal Detectors. They sell good condition second hand machines with 3 month warranty. A Minelab Xterra 30 is apparently a good beach machine and is very near your price range. Machines with L/WS by them mean they are OK on land and wet sand. Good luck.

You won't be sorry.

I've taken my CS4PI out with others who have 3030's, Safaris, Deus', Garrets and more, and they will tell you the CS4PI does the same, if not better, every time.

Much better depth as well.

Of course, you pay the price of digging everything, but you'll miss nothing.

I can personally vouch for the CS 4 PI. Yes it is hard work and takes some real patience but i have actually lost count of how much it has repaid me. You can pick it up on THAT SITE for less than 200.Its a bargain.

I've had great results with my Garrett Ace 150 on beaches & its still going strong after 4 yrs of use.
It works on wet sand 3 bars and jewellery mode setting.

You do need a propointer however as it doesn't pin point.
It is cheap £135 and very easy to use, mine has paid for itself 10 times over enough to buy something with a fancy name!!!

The Bounty Hunter Tracker 4 has some wet sand ability, and even the new price is well within your budget. Just don't expect great depths, and keep it dry.

Thanks for all the input, I am leaning towards the cs4pi but have some further 'digging' to do after your comments... Thanks!

I have not had one but on the Geotech forum the Bounty Hunter seem to have variable build quality some work very good ,some work some poorly, and some don't work from new. Don't know if this still applies

I assumed he would be buying new, but it's true, some of the older ones were apparently prone to variable build quality.

I made my own, good fun and ended up with 2 of them. used my G250 on the beach, worked fine even with black sand.
