The coil always drains quicker , I went out for a day and realised I hadn't clipped the clip on properly the night before , when I was on the fields I only had 1 bar but it lasted the day ... ::g a lesson learned I check and double check everything's charging and check its charged before I leave the house ( I've got an in car charger so worse case I can charge it on route ::g )

If you have the remote it will show you on the display the battery life of the coil and the control , if you have the light it will do the same but on the headphone display , the battery thing is an emergency charger that uses a AA battery , its will give you a couple of hours charge from the battery ::g

Like Sweepspeed, every time before I go out. Probably a bit paranoid but I've even thought of topping up while I'm grabbing a drink and a sandwich :))

The battery condition for the coil and control unit are alternately displayed on the control unit every 4 seconds.
The icon on the control unit will show the coil charge level then swap over to the control unit battery level and back again.
You will see the coil icon and a battery bar adjacent to it for 4 seconds then the coil icon "disappears" but the battery bar is still displayed and this is now showing the contol units battery condition.

The headphones however show the coil battery level then 4 seconds later the headphones battery level and then back to the coil after another 4 seconds.

I always charge both coils as well as the control unit and headphones before a trip.
Having two coils is quite a good back up if you can stretch to that. The coils as a rough estimate will last half the battery life of both the control unit and the headphones.

On paper you could charge the headphones and control unit once every other trip when brand new but it's not worth the risk when the units are over three years old as the batteries will lose their charge quicker with age.

I know its a good detector and has some great advantages ... but all sounds stressful and complex , with checking each bit, in car charges (if you go in a car to your site) and emergency charger... call me out of date but 4 x AA batteries for the AT Pro,and 4 spare in the rucksack. job done. but each to their own HH guys ::g

Hi Rob,

There's always pro's & con's.... whether its a car, camera or detector etc.

Once shown or explained re the Déus battery conditions, its easy peasy.
The biggest 'sphere ache' would be changing the coil battery when it gives in! :-/

The display constantly shows the battery levels whilst displaying all the other functions too.
You've just got to remember that the control box shows the control box and coil battery levels whilst the headphones show the headphone and coil battery levels.. so the coil level is shown on both units.
The headphones and control box batteries are virtually equal in discharge rate so if you can see that the control box is ok... the headphones will be too. As mentioned, the coils last about half that of the box and 'phones.

The in-car charger would be useful if you were on-site for several hours with no other form of re-charge facility and felt that you needed a boost.
Mind you, after several hours detecting... I would need a boost!! :))

I managed to set up our website http://www.recoveryofhistory.com/index.html without any prior knowledge of how to build one.
Sometimes things appear more complicated than they really are.
With time, I will tweak the site as things progress and hopefully it will complement MDF as it should do.

After all, we're all here to help, chat, discuss, have a laugh and share our finds and experiences.

BTW... AT Pro.... nice machine ;)

Hi, thought that would get a response ! I was only light hearted bantering, as my friend has one he came over to me the other week and we were comparing each others signals. I have had a quick go with one and I know Nigel at Regton loves them. I do love my pro for as my friend John said I have it all worked out as I can dig the target with my headphones staying on and the cables are not in the way. should I ever get to the stage I feel I needed a wireless machine the Deus would most deferentially be the one, although there does seem to be a lot to understand with all the settings available. Nice job on the web site I will have a good look later, I do have my own, thanks :D Rob
