An afternoon on the beach.

Post by Greg3 »

Hi
Spent a couple of hours on my local beach this afternoon and was impressed by what I found (thanks I think to the recent windy weather and the fact diggers have been out shifting sand around) As well as about £6 in modern coins (and few scraps of metal, broken screws etc) I found this little lot...

Pre-Decimal Stuff
5 half-pennies (incl an Irish one from 1934)
2 Pennies (1900 and 1914)
2 three pences
8 sixpences
2 half crowns

Interesting/unusual Bits
A pin badge commemorating the coronation of Edward VIII.

2 bits of military insignia (part of a cap badge from the King's Own Royal Regiment (Lancaster) and a shoulder badge from Portora School OTC) I'm going to post pics of them in the Military section to see if anyone can date them for me.

Most amazingly of all, I found not one single bit of drink can!!! That must be a first in my 3 months of beach detecting! Anyway, thanks for looking.... Can't wait to get out again tomorrow!!
