Deus coil playing up ?

thought i would have a couple of hrs detecting on the way home from work as the weather was nice
after about an hr my control box starts flashing NO COIL i thought perhaps the battery had ran out but i had only done about 5 hrs since the last charge and my control box and headphones are nearly full so headed for home and put everything on charge ...even after a couple of hrs on charge the light on my coil only seems to flash every couple of minutes and i'm sure its meant to be every 30 seconds or so
i have checked the serial number hasn't been changed but no joy
so i am thinking either the charger is broke again !!!! or the coil has packed up its only done about 30hrs
any ideas anyone am i missing something obvious ?

Give Regtons a call, they are the main XP dealers i believe and they are very helpful when you have a problem.

If the remote and phones have charged ok then the fault could be with the coil charging clip.

All I can suggest is to try another clip.

cheers mate i will phone the shop i bought it from tomorrow ....i was hoping i was missing something simple and someone would come on and say do this and its fixed ....but i'm guessing its broke ( if it is i'm not impressed with XP )

played around with the charger for the umpteenth time ....been getting worried i would break it again and its started working now ....i have to say its got to be the worst thing about the deus why did they make it sooo delicate ....time to go and get a beer and unwind ....might have to buy ANOTHER clip as a spare

Hi Digger, my 11" coil would not charge done all the usual checks, no joy. Went back to Regtons who in turn sent it back to Xp, said it could be the electronics. Could be a 6 week turn around, they did offer to lend me a coil but only had 9" one.

The control box will state "No Coil" when the "handshake" has not been completed for whatever reason.

When first charging the coil the light should be on constantly. When the charge is complete the light will alternate by being ON for 3 seconds then OFF for 3 seconds and so forth.

You say you are sure it should flash "every 30 seconds or so" ... where did you get this information?

Does it flash every couple of minutes? If so you may have a bad connection.
Make sure the contacts are exceptionally clean on the coil as well as the charger pins.
Try another charger clamp if you can....
If that fails, you may have a faulty coil.

it seems to be charging allright now with the light on the coil on and the control box seeing the coil
fisher1266x ....its been one of those days mate i have no idea where i got the 30 seconds from thought i had read it it in instruction manual
all i can asume is i had dirty terminals or didnt connect properly last time and i didnt pay attention and just guessed it was charged when obviously it wasn't and tonight i had to play a lot with it to work so i think i will have to buy another charging clip to be on the safe side ...
