Bling and first hammered

Post by northernmonkey »

Hi all,
Had a bit of a quiet spell over the past few months, after all the winter storms the beaches have been thick with sand with very little finds other than the odd decimal coin.
Had a week off work this week and decided to try a beach which had the potenial to give first my first hammered. After the first couple of frustrating days digging tiny bits of melted blobs of aluminum which litters the beaches i finally did it.... Still can't believe i found it as it was a long shot as best. Any help with the id would be much appreciated. I thinks its an irish henry III long cross penny (davi on diveli) ?
Feeling lucky.... the last few day i decided to unleash the sand scoop and try hitting the low water mark on a different beach. Ive done this beach a lot over the past 12 months but mainly all in the rocks close in which produced some nice finds.The signals were few and far between out on the low water mark but walked away with a ring and few coins each day ( friday-sunday)
All found with the sovereign gt in all metal pinpoint mode with the sensitivity cranked up to maximum.
I have considered a pi machine but after trying the sovereign like this and digging any slight blips i have been very impressed with the depth. After going about 30 minutes between signals swinging the sovereign and digging small trenches i really wouldnt fancy going any deeper as ive walked away each night knackered... :))

Thanks for looking
Matt ::g

Cheers for the comments fellas... The two gold are both hallmarked 9ct dating around the late 1970's to early 1980's. I initially thought they were both a bit older than that looking at the designs but hey ho im not complaining.
After finding the hammered the rings were just the icing on the cake... ::g
