hi, just come back from my local beach it works fine in the dry sand, it does pick up the iron cored coins like the 1 and 2ps (broken signal though) and now that the 5s and 10s are going the same way it will get them too as my explorer se doesn't, I wanted to find out what it was like in wet sand which is mainly why I went out, I did find 5 coins in the wet not very deep about 5" or so but I did notice the signals are not as strong as the explorer but they are there you just have to listen as the deeper they are the weaker they were, I hope this helps.

I have done different beaches with the Deus every day this week, some dry sand, some wet sand and even shale on top of wet and dry sand. I found the dry beach setting better on dry and damp sand then switching to the wet beach setting for very wet areas that have only just been left behind by the retreating tide.

I am still learning to differentiate between bottle tops and ring pulls compared to coins but by digging everything to confirm my assessment, even after such a short time I can get it right 80% of the time. This also showed the Deus is picking out signals 8 to 10 inches down, obviously the deeper the item the quieter and more broken the signal.

I have also become skilled at finding and ignoring mineralised rocks and carbonised beach fire pits ::g
