Hi all
Since I got my Explorer II I've noise cancelled in the field after finding a clean bit of ground like the manual advises. I know some guys set the noise cancel manually to one number or other. I would of thought letting the machine work out the right number for the conditions would be best.
Anything to be gained by setting the number yourself i.e. is it just guesswork?

As far as I'm aware noise cancel relates to emi interference only ie noise from phone masts, power lines etc and not to anything in the ground. Ground balance is automatic. I did have a bit of a fiddle with manually selecting channels when I first got the Etrac and there are some vids on utube suggesting that manual selection gets more depth but air tests mean very little with the bbs or fbs machines. I just use auto select and in noisy areas auto sens too.

channel 1 is by far the most sensitive to small items along with the top left 1 pixel knocked out
its a cracking setup
