Silver St. Christopher

Hi
Just had an hour or so on the beach and found this St. Christopher medal (it was about the only decent thing I found - the rest was modern coins and drink cans!!)

I was just curious as to the lack of hallmarks... It's simply marked on the back with the word silver. Is that because it's not especially pure? Although it did react well to the spit and foil test and I've had a quick go at cleaning it with baking soda and it's come up pretty silver looking!!

Nice little find, the fact it has no hallmarks & only has the word silver could indicate its continental silver, could also be exempt from hallmarking if its weight is less than 7 grams ::g
History is never black & white, just shades of grey
