How long does your coil cover last?

Post by Taxino8 »

I have had my Deus for three years and about three months ago the coil cover wore away at the side. I purchased another and this one has only lasted three months and has already worn out in the same place.
I am a bit puzzled as to if I got a duff one or are they now made of weaker materials as my detecting habits have not changed and I detect over the same land, which is mainly barley and wheat stubble with a bit of time on oil seed rape stubble if I'm desperate.

About one "season" on my Moonlab. If you are wearing out covers you are detecting "right".

I know some folk that will never get a scratch..... =))

Personally I never use a coil cover because water and soil get in between the coil and the cover causing the signal to bounce and you will loose depth. Finds rate increased when I binned the cover.

If your getting through them too quick, you could always buy a cheap frizby and zip tie it upside down onto the bottom of your coil. Should give you an extended life for not very much money.

I've had mine 2 years and it still looks good but I'm mainly on pasture, I did notice that Adam wasn't using a coil cover on Deus Day so maybe TC may have a point.
I may have give it a go.

Try a dustbin lid, you will never wear it out and you will always have a signal as soon as you turn it on x; :-w =))
