Reactivity settings
Hi, I have just taken possession of the Deus bought from Crawford's looks a really good detector. I have studied the manual and seems person friendly, there is however a but. I am having trouble getting my head round the 'Reactivity' setting. The well designed diagram on page 14 suggests that a high reactivity level setting 4/5 will give a good target close to iron a clear signal and a low setting 0/1 would mask the good target. I then access the factory settings these suggest setting 2/3. This is also backed up by the personal settings of people and field tests. I do not like to hear iron, so I will set the iron volume at 0 along with 2 tones which will then become 1 tone. What would be the negative if used setting4/5 instead of 2/3. Would altering the frequency level have a bearing. I would welcome opinions of experienced users of the XP, other than this I can't wait to get out there.

Congrats on your new Deus Giz
I'm sure you'll love it
I've had mine for over a year but still think there's much to learn
With low Reactivity settings you get a wider, and to my ears, a softer signal. Higher levels are shorter and sharper which I like. The downside of high Reactivity is depth will suffer to some extent (likewise with Disc levels).
I would suggest loading Adam's HF progs - very effective
You do hear the iron signals but they're fairly quiet and it helps in two ways. One would be in identifying good targets near to iron and the other to identify areas on your fields where there has been more activity. When I started with mine I didn't mount the controller but just had it in a bag on my belt. I got on pretty well and learned to listen to hear what the machine was telling me but use the controller all the time now for the added information.
