Having just seen a youtube clip by a Deus user I am left confused.
1.First, just to sure I have this right, can anyone confirm that if Disc is set on 6 for example, iron will still be heard even if it registers under 6, unless iron volume is set to 0?
I.E "Disc" doesn't mean we wont hear it, it just means it will be a low tone?
2.If "disc" just changes the tone, why not set "disc" to 2 and alter the first tone/second tone break point to 7 ish?
3.If iron volume is set at 0, could higher iffy signals that register high, still have a slight iron buzz or will the iron buzz be excluded because iron volume is set at 0?
I have asked a similar question before but got conflicting answers.

Totally agree as with any m/cGlenfiddich wrote:Hi Jag, what can I say you have said that you are new to using the Deus and fairly new to detecting at all and already you are trying to customize the settingswhy oh why oh why do people always seem to buy a detector then try and customize it before learning to use it properly ??
If you don't learn how the signals should sound with the factory settings then you will have nothing to compare the new custom settings to
and I'm not surprised that you are confused.

I've been detecting for 10 years and had my Deus for about 3 years and it took me several months before trying to customize it, I rarely do customize it other than to put the ground balance on trackingthere are 10 excellent programs and I suggest either that you start in Basic 1 or Basic 2 program before advancing to either GMPower or Deus Fast
don't get me wrong Jag, its a great detector and super light in weight but always learn the basics for a few months first, learn to walk before you run and the good finds will come

Danzigman, thank you for reply. Noted.
Glenfiddich, personally I want to hear any iron so I wouldn't want to use a program that has a pre-set iron volume of 0. Some of the other programs that have an audible iron volume (like prog 2 that you suggested) have a low audio response which makes it (for me with not perfect hearing) difficult to hear the fainter targets. This means tweaking the pre-sets.
Apart from the above reasons, most people are naturally inquisitive and want to learn about their detector, be it old or new.
As for my original questions, I did not say I want to use the settings the person on Youtube was, I merely asked about iron volume to try and understand it better. As you hinted at yourself, we should understand how our machines work and my questions were to try and further that understanding. It may have been easier to answer them.
