Deus Best coil to start with 9" or 11"
Deus Best coil to start with 9" or 11"Hi to all you experienced deus users I,m going to start learning to use my deus but wondered as I,ve got both coils would it make any difference which one to start with. Obviously there will be less under the 9" to listen to and decipher but would it make that much difference to jump in with the 11" straight away ?, thanks in advance for the advice I,m sure to need

I haven't got the 9" coil and I contemplated getting one when I bought the Deus but I would just go for the 11" coil all the way. If you're in a trashy area just raise the reactivity. One of the Deus strongest points is how fast it is. The 11" covers lots of ground and gets good depth. Plus it's not dustbin lid size and won't give you any problems with its weight. I used to use a detector with a 8" coil all the time but I wouldn't go back now for all the tea in a growing super power.
Sorry I couldn't give a more expert opinion but I thought it may help a little. ![]() Derbyshire based concealed junk removal operative.
Finds of note in 2022 - You know that thing you do when you pull your pockets out to show there's nothing in there? You get the idea.

Predator phones Ace 150 Pro Pointer Since I fitted the 11" its not been off in 6 months. That probably is enough of an answer to back up whats been said.
The 9" has its uses though, no way would I sell mine. For stubble fields, 9" all the way, pin pointing with the 9" is supremely accurate infact the 9" is a brilliant tool, just the 11" covers more ground and also gives a small increase in depth. I always carry the 9 with me and for the specific type of field, I'd switch back to it and be extremely happy to do so.
I wrote this post in a rush and refered to the Goldmaxpower only, not realising it was a Dues owner request,to which I do not own, appologise's, but I would of thought as with all XP machines, I would start with the stock coil 9", and get used to it before upgrading, the 9" will prove better on difficult sites, with lots of iron mineralisation etc, the 11" would drive you nuts hitting one of these unless you were very experienced, learn first and you might not need to upgrade. The 11" will cover more ground and prove a better buy, especially on less contaminated sites. it depends on your search areas. It you need it get it if not dont. I would get the experience first with the stock 9" coil.
