Explorer II or SE
I am buying an Explorer but cannot decide whether to fork out approx £80 more for the SE. I will be adding a SEF coil to whichever one I buy. Is there much difference in performance between the two?

^^^ what he said.
SE with a Pro Coil is probably the best machine ML made.
Having said that an ExpII with a procoil is only a small step behind it.

Thank you for your input. I am getting back into detecting after a 15 year gap. I have asked loads of questions on here and had settled on a Makro Racer, bt some of the issues some people have had have put me off. I have bought the Andy Sabisch book and downloaded the emulator and played around with it. I had an Explorer S when they first came out but did not understand it, didnt give it timeand got rid of it after a month lol Now looking forward to trying the beaches nearby!

Hi, I am currently using the explorer se with 13" ultimate and also the makro racer. I did have the large 15" coil also for the makro but sold it separate as wasn't good at discriminating iron out. Out of the two machines defo go for the explorer se std and get larger coil. Makro is a nice quiet machine and maybe better on the beach than explorer but for depth and for ease of identification go for the explorer se.. Will never part with mine.. Hope this helps. Sj
The NEL Tornado coil is the one you want, it beat my SEF hands down, the Explorer II in manual takes some beating too

Not used an SE but the Ex II with a SEF 12x10 coil is a beast. Decisions decisions !!
